In 1982, during the Falklands Islands War, the landing ship, Sir Galahad, was destroyed in Bluff Cove. On board a young Welsh Guardsman, Simon Weston- a name and face that was going to become well known around the world. Simon’s struggle to overcome his injuries and 46% burns redefined his role in life. Simon endured years of re-constructive surgery but his story is one of triumph over adversity.
Simon endured years of re-constructive surgery, including 70 major operations or surgical procedures. Today Simon takes the opportunity to convey his story in order to motivate and encourage those, who like him, want to move on to the next goal.
Following his injuries, Simon’s road to physical, spiritual and mental recovery saw him active in highly successful ventures. His tireless work for charity, earned him an OBE in the 1992 Queen’s Birthday Honours and awarded the Freedom of the City of London
Author of 3 autobiographies, Walking Tall reached No1 in the best selling list. In addition, Simon authored 2 novels- Cause of Death and Phoenix. Still forever the soldier, and showing that life is one of triumph over adversity, Simon established Weston Security in 2012.
Voted by the BBC to have his Portrait hung in the National Portrait Gallery, Simon also topped a poll naming the Nations Favourite Hero.
